Welcome to My Blog on geography for young Children based on my ”Where I Live” book. I am a mother, grandmother , retired teacher and reading specialist. I am also a wife to a man who loves maps (not GPA). Why am I spending my retirement on a BLOG! I’ll tell you why.
I wrote a well-received and loved basic geography book for young children because I discovered through my many years of teaching that children have no idea of where they live in the world. If you ask them what city they live in they may answer with the name of their state. If you ask them what the name of the river that flows through their city they will probably answer, River Front!
I feel it is critical that young children have the knowledge of local, state, national and world geography and an understanding of maps and globes. This can be accomplished in a fun and personal way. Reading and discussing my book with your children will accomplish this goal.
